FAQs

  • No, we recommend you work with a tax accountant for your income taxes. But we’re happy to coordinate with them at tax time!

  • We mostly work in QuickBooks Online; it’s widely used and understood by small business owners and tax accountants. But if you use something else, we can still work together! Depending on what you use, we can either work in that software or migrate you over to QuickBooks.

  • Of course! We’ve worked with businesses who are a couple of months to a couple of years behind. We’ll make a plan to get the information we need and get you all caught up.

  • Absolutely. We will work with you throughout the year to make sure we have all the information we need to file your 1099s. Creatives tend to use a lot of independent contractors, so this is part of our core services.

  • For sure! We can set up payroll and let you manage it, or provide ongoing payroll services. 

  • We create a custom proposal for each business. It always includes your core services (categorizations, reconciliations, reports, 1099s, and coordination with a tax professional), but the cost depends on the volume and complexity of your business. You may want to add on other services as well - sales taxes, payroll, invoicing, paying bills, or coaching. We’ll make sure the services and pricing are clear so you know exactly what to expect each month.

  • The average cost our clients pay for bookkeeping services is $425 per month. Very simple businesses may be as low as $225 per month, while more complex ones will be higher.

  • We do our bookkeeping on a monthly or weekly basis, depending on the volume and complexity of your business and your needs. Our general process is:  

    1. We go into your account and categorize transactions that we can identify

    2. We ask you questions through our secure portal about any transactions that we can’t identify or need more information on

    3. We reconcile your accounts

    4. We send you monthly financial reports

  • Super common question! Did you ever balance a checkbook? No? Are we dating ourselves? Reconciling is simply making sure that the information we have in your books is the same information that your bank has - we’re not missing any transactions or duplicating any of them. This ensures that your books are correct, your tax calculations are correct, and you can sleep easy.

  • We’ll organize your financial records throughout the year, so everything is ready when tax season rolls around. We’ll also coordinate directly with your tax preparer to answer questions and provide any additional documentation they need.
